The sun rises and shines into the Ramsey bedroom. Austin awakes and hops out of bed, and goes to brush his teeth. He stands in the doorway, watching his wife sleep. He knows he is a lucky man. They have been through so much during the course of their relationship, and that was all laid out this Valentine’s Day during the Proud House Wrestling Showcase. Austin wasn’t proud of some of the things he had done in the past, but she never left him, and their love grew stronger each day. She promised never to abandon him like so many had done all his life; for that, he would give her the moon and stars if he could.
He finished brushing his teeth and went to check on the twins. They were sound asleep, so he went downstairs and let the dogs into the backyard. He unrolled his yoga mat and went into his morning ritual. Todrick came downstairs and saw him at peace, so she didn’t disturb him. She cleaned up behind the dogs, and they returned to the house. She washed her hands and made freeze-squeezed orange juice for herself and Austin.
He finished his yoga and entered the kitchen, where she handed him the juice. She started making his vegan breakfast.
Todrick Tabor-Ramsey: “Babe, are you comfortable about your match prep for your match against Nathaniel Dixon tomorrow night?”
Austin Ramsey: “Yeah, I did my homework and not only watched all of his stuff with The Entity, but I went back to his days in Hybrid and NFW as well. He fancies himself a very charismatic fellow, and I imagine he will fancy himself smarter than me. It’s all good, though; I like facing the people that think I am some big, dumb brute in the ring. That worsens the blow when they get beaten by the brute that turned out to be a showman in the ring.”
Todrick Tabor-Ramsey: “You are both coming off of impressive wins at Kaged In; it was announced that whoever wins this match will be put into title contention. How do you feel about that?”
Austin Ramsey: “You are just going to have to watch my live podcast about that like everyone else.”
Austin chuckles and stands up, and kisses her on the cheek. He swats her behind and walks upstairs to shower. He feels refreshed as he gets dressed. He exits the room, sweeps by the nursery, and picks up his sleeping babies. They slowly wake up and smile when they see their father. He smiles back at them. He thinks, “You two are my pride and joy; I cannot believe that something so perfect came from someone so far from perfect.” He wipes them down and changes their diapers, and dresses them. He then takes them downstairs, where Todrick has their bottles made, and she takes Diana, and they feed the babies together.
Austin Ramsey: “You know that besides waking up next to you every day, this is the highlight of my day. My perfect family, all spending quality time together. This is why I work so hard in and out of that ring so that I can give you three everything that you want and need. It is what makes me a lethal threat to guys like Nathaniel Dixon when I face them. We both know that I am married to a champion. It isn’t about winning to get a championship opportunity. It is about climbing to the top because if our children decide to break into this business someday, I want them to be able to look at both of their parents' careers and have something to be proud of.
I want you to be proud to be married to someone that shares the same dreams that you do and manifests those dreams into reality. I will be the man worthy to stand beside you as a titan in this industry.”
Todrick Tabor-Ramsey: “You already are that man, baby. You mean the world to me, and as the fans have been showing you for months, you mean a lot to them and this business. They aren’t just my Rockstars now; they are yours as well. We may not be a tag team in The Entity anymore, but we are still one of the greatest husband and wife teams in their hearts.”
Austin nods and stares into Todrick’s eyes. They finish feeding the babies and burp them. Austin sets up the playpen in his office and sets up his equipment for his podcast. He walks back into the kitchen and brings the babies into the office. He puts them in his playpen, and Todrick has reheated his breakfast and brings it to him.
Todrick Tabor-Ramsey: “Babe, will you be okay by yourself for a few hours? I’m heading over to Madison Square Garden to help the crew set up for Midnight Massacre. It’s high time I paid my dues like all the greats before me.”
Austin Ramsey: “Yeah, we will be fine here. Berta should have returned from her morning walk to help me with the twins while I record. Besides, I’m looking forward to a day at home with them. I’m always so damn busy.”
Todrick kisses him on his forehead and leaves. Her documentary team follows behind her as they will capture her day before her match tomorrow night. Austin eats his breakfast and takes his plate into the kitchen. He rinses it, puts it into the dishwasher, and returns to his office. He fires up his podcast equipment and tests his microphone levels. Once satisfied, he turns on the video recording.
Austin Ramsey: “Good morning. Welcome to the Austin’s World podcast, where we talk about all of the things that go on in my world. The ratings have been fantastic because I know you want to hear all about my wacky exploits, my business ventures, and the real reason you listen to the show, to hear all about Todrick Tabor-Ramsey and the twins. I appreciate all of you and all of my sponsors for sharing this journey with me.
The last time we spoke was before the PHW Valentine’s Day Showcase, and by now, you have all seen what happened in my match with Samuel Chatman. The question I keep seeing on the socials is, will I black out, and one of my personalities will take over in my match with Nathaniel Dixon during Midnight Massacre? I wish I could tell you the answer to that question, but this is a different type of match, so I can’t just lose all control, or I will find myself disqualified. Many of you enjoyed seeing that side of me and haven’t seen it since my days in FIGHT.
I’m not just going to hand Dixon a victory with a DQ. He will have to work hard and earn a victory, just like I do. That match was personal between Chatman and me, and there was only one way it could end. I hate putting Toddy through those moments where she has to enter the abyss and pull me back into the light. When I came to, I was so confused, but the look in her eyes haunts me every time she has to do that.
I can win a match and be the showman I am known to be without always having to transform. That said, I will transform in any match to win. If that’s what it takes to defeat Dixon, who fancies himself a wolf in sheep’s clothing, then so be. Dixon has gone by many names, “The Intellectual Evolution,” “Your Lord of Charisma,” “London’s Master Manipulator,” “The Breaker of Bones,” “The Lord,” and “The Monster.” This is chapter seven of his story to him, but to me, this isn’t some story to be told for money; this is my life.
If someone chooses to tell my story someday, great, but I will leave my mark on this world and this business because it means that much to me. I know a lot about wrestling with demons, and it is not easy, but I cannot imagine doing it alone. I’ve seen Dixon wrestle with his demons on Twitter and often talk about being on this journey alone. Toddy has always been my anchor, my guide to returning when I lose the fight to those demons, but he has no one to do that for him. It’s funny because he puts on this persona that he is the most intelligent man in the room and loves violence, but is that all an act, I wonder? Is that a mask to hide the fact that he is just like the rest of us when we step into that ring?
He is no monster; the only person he has manipulated is himself into thinking that he is a lord in that ring. Anyone can break bones in the ring, but that shows that you knew you could not handle an opponent who was better than you were. It shows the insecurity that we all know is there. We are supposed to protect one another in the ring and be safe. Accidents happen, but intentionally harming your opponent shows that you are a coward. That is why he is a Gemini. You are forty years old, and when I see you call yourself these things, it is apparent that you still have much growing up to do. I hope you have not manipulated yourself into thinking that this match will be a cakewalk for you. Because we both know that I am capable of being a monster myself, trust me, you do not want to meet that monster in the ring or anywhere else for that matter.
I won’t sit here and pretend he is not intelligent because he is a CEO and the owner of Dixon Corporate Enterprises. His company survived when many others failed during the COVID pandemic, proving he is an intelligent businessman. I respect him for that, but that is where that respect ends because of all the other things he describes himself as. I understand that you are coming to that age where people start to question your abilities, where that sense of this may be your last real run at a championship because someone like me is going to put you out to pasture. That is a valid fear, but unless we are in a match where your career is on the line, my only interest is beating you to show the world what I already know. I am the best of the best.
The world knows it because I just signed up with CCPE L.L.C. to be represented by the best company in the world. It should have come as no shock that they knocked on my door when they started looking to manage new talent. I’ve been on the best run of my career lately, picking up several victories and laying waste to those in my path. You know that because you have seen it yourself here in this company. I know that you are smart enough to look into me, whether you admit it aloud or not, so you know what I am capable of, what I have been doing, and what I will continue to do when we step into that ring tomorrow night, what I will do to anyone that draws that unfortunate straw where they have to face me in that ring.
I have seen you do great things in the ring, but I have seen your desperation as well. If you think I will allow you to plant me with “The Reaper’s Bloody Scythe,” you are wrong. Your history shows that when you are on the brink of no return, that is the move you turn to. That makes you predictable, which is your downfall when facing an opponent as unpredictable as me. Your moveset is clever, but so is mine. It is innovative, but I am not bound to it or certain things when it gets tough in that ring. We are both showmen in that ring, but putting me down takes more than that. I used to be called “The Phoenix” because I always arose from the ashes, but that implies that I overcame losses and I am no longer in the business of losing matches. I should be called “The Dark Phoenix” now because I have a hunger for destruction and scorching the very earth to win at all costs.
It doesn’t take a loss for me to bring my a-game because my a-game is always on display, and nothing will change that. We face off for a future championship opportunity, but we face off for honor as well. We both looked amazing at Kaged In, so everyone is watching what we will do at Midnight Massacre. They want to see who is hungrier, who wants it more. But as you said on Twitter, you go this alone. I do not; I have the love of my wife, my twins, and, as Toddy told me earlier, all of OUR Rockstars with me. That is something I never dreamed possible, but as I’ve told Toddy, dreams are powerful when we manifest them into reality.
I’ve dreamed of making myself a legend, and now I have the backing to do just that. Access to the talent in CCPE has been something that is invaluable. I’m surrounded by the best in this world, and they readily share their knowledge and secrets so we can stay on top of the world. I’ve sparred in the ring with titans in this business, and they have made me worthy of being one of those titans. You face this alone, but I do not. That strength is your weakness and will lead to your undoing. That is the answer to the question you all have been asking; I need to be myself in this match because I am one of the best; you can’t get much better. Smash, get ready to put a championship around this chiseled waist.
Because after I beat Dixon in this match, we all know that is where I was headed anyway. Well, that’s all the time we have this week for Austin’s world; when we next meet, I will be the #1 contender for a championship in The Entity. This week I want all of my Rockstars to manifest your dreams of me winning this match, and I will make it a reality. As my friends in TIA Promotions and CCP Broadcasting always say, Be good to one another. Take your elbow and smash that like and follow button below, and I will see you next time on Austin’s World.”
Austin stops the recording and sees Berta holding the twins in the office. He nods at her, and she grunts at him in return. They have come to an understanding in their relationship. She puts the twins in jackets and skull caps and puts them into their stroller. Austin takes them and leaves the house as the scene ends.
