Todrick Tabor-Ramsey walks around Madison Square Garden, watching the crew set up for The Entity’s Midnight Massacre. She had been in MSG before and had seen success within these famous walls. She won the OPW Immortal tag team championships here with her husband. That made this place special to her. She wanted to document this day and had a camera following her around to catch every moment. She took in the sights and the smells, and a wave of nostalgia rushed over her. She walked down and began to help the crew set up the ring as many wrestlers in the past had done.
Everyone took extra care to make sure everything was just right for those that had befriended the crew because they all fancied themselves a family as well. Family takes care of family, a concept Todrick knew and loved about this business. She had learned that word amongst the crew spread quickly of those wrestlers that helped them out or were kind to them, and the favor was returned whenever they appeared on that show’s programming.
When they finished, and the crew had all cleared out, Todrick sat on the edge of the ring with her eyes closed.
Todrick Tabor-Ramsey: “If you close your eyes, you can imagine what this place will look like tomorrow after all of my Rockstars have entered the building and taken their seats. You are wearing your Toddy t-shirts and have your beautiful signs. I know you will show all your love and support as you always do. I will take that love and channel it into this Merciless Championship Match against Shane Donovan and family friend JMont.
JMont, we have to stop meeting this way. We have made a habit of meeting in high-stakes championship matches. First in FIGHT, where we faced off for the Manhattan Championship, and again here in The Entity, where we faced off for the tag team championships. I took the first victory, and you took the second; that means this is the best two out of three for us, and I want this win badly, and I will do anything it takes to achieve that. By now, we have proven to the world that when the dust settles, anything that has happened in this ring will not affect our friendship outside of the ring.
I view those championship matches as study material; I have learned that you compete differently when it comes to them. I learned from my mistakes and the things that went well, and I plan to show you and the world that I’m a quick study and, when my hand is raised, why I graduated with a 4.0 GPA. When it comes to the big tests, my studying has always paid off. You are a complex individual, but that’s why I have studied every match, every antic, and tell you have. I studied it all, and then I practiced new moves, strategies, counters, and offensive moves for the moment we faced. I know you know how I fight in the ring and will have prepared for the usual, so I needed you to encounter someone new. I needed to become someone new.
With everything going on in my life, that is a very accurate statement. I’m a new mother to twins; I moved into a second home in Las Vegas because of all of my commitments there. My schedule is busier than ever, and that has made me recommit to this business. Now for the first time in a long time, I will fly solo in this ring again. I had to readjust everything from my thinking to my timing because Austin won’t be at my side. I had to remember what made me a champion and prepare my mind for a singles championship run. I know what it is like on the top, and I intend to get there tomorrow night.
You and Shane Donovan are both decorated wrestlers, and after studying his history, I can see why he would be a favorite to win this match. He had an auspicious career when he first started. He was a favorite in Sin Wrestling, but something about him changed, and he stopped being a pure wrestler. He stopped trying to win over the fans and became increasingly violent until that ended his stint with that company. He traveled to several other companies and picked up some championships along the way. He even specialized in tag team wrestling for a bit. It is no wonder that he was selected to be in this championship match with a record like that. It was an intelligent booking choice from Smash amongst three legends in this business.
However, Shane’s life took a turn, and he has been on a path to redemption, so he needs this match as we all do. He suffered a severe knee injury, leading to a harmful substance abuse case. He fell far from grace, landing in rehab and on parole. He competed in several companies, but he now calls The Entity his home, and like the first words of his entrance, he wants to be a messiah, a king, a god in extension. Everyone has dreams, but the reality is that he has to go through people like me who have those same dreams. His dreams are no more important than mine, so I cannot let him walk away with the Merciless Championship.
In a way, we are all dreamers, whether we like to admit it or not. Dreamers can be powerful when they channel those aspirations and get the job done. Being around the best has brought out the best, and I don’t mind showing that to the world. Signing with CCPE L.L.C. has brought out a ruthless aggression in me that I did not know I had. When I first started in this business, no one believed that I had what it took to be championship material. I was a pretty face with a gimmick that involved my ample backside. I danced my way into your hearts, and no matter what I did in the ring, I never got booked in the big-time matches.
That all changed when I finally made it to a company that saw all my talent and hard work and booked me properly. It was all about me and not just having me on a tag team. I never shared that with Austin, but that is what took me so long to say yes to being on a tag team with him. In the past, that’s where the powers that be thought I needed to be taken seriously. I was always the underdog, and they had me portrayed as such. The commentary teams were doing as they were told, but I always knew I had what it takes to succeed in singles wrestling. I know that I will have to be merciless to win in a match with someone who has a smash-mouth style, one where he focuses on aggression but can be very reckless, and someone who has a methodical style where he stalks his prey and capitalizes off of any sign of weakness. That is what makes me suited for a championship named Merciless.
But they aren’t facing the sweet and lovable Toddy that you are used to. I’m still me, but something has woken up inside of me that will show them and the world why Smash chose me to be in a match with such violent men. Smash is one of those owners that genuinely see me like they all have since FIGHT gave me a chance to prove myself. I have established myself in FIGHT, OPW, WGWF, and PHW, and now I will prove myself here in The Entity. When you treat me right, I give it everything that I have. I am no longer the underdog, and it is no longer the “shock” that it was if I won a match. When I win this match, it won’t be an upset because I have proven that I am just as good as they are, and tomorrow night, I will prove that I am better than a man-made monster and a man with twisted thoughts.
I am Todrick Tabor-Ramsey, the new face of ruthless aggression, and I will be your next Merciless Champion. Another member that is signed with CCPE will do what we all do best and bring another championship home.”
Todrick hops off the ring apron, and makes her way to the top of the stage, and closes her eyes again. She holds her arms up in victory, and she can see herself holding up the Merciless Championship belt, and all her Rockstars are cheering so loud that the roof is about to blow off. The fireworks are exploding, and she knows she deserves to be here. She walks through the curtain with a smile on her face. She stops by the seamstress’ station to do a final fitting for her new ring attire. Then she stops by the glam station to discuss her vision for tomorrow night. Once she was satisfied with everything, she left the arena. In the car, she looks at the camera.
Todrick Tabor-Ramsey: “I can’t begin to describe how all of this feels. It is a rush of emotions, and you have an overwhelming dream of doing your best. There are so many people that count on you when you are in a championship match. The fans, the owners, producers, everyone, and you know that you have to deliver, so they keep their faith in your skills and abilities. No one wants to lose, and I feel like this is a match that I can’t lose. To me, every match is the most important match of my career because you are only remembered for the last match that you had. I want to be remembered for my matches making the highlight reel when I am inducted into someone’s hall of fame someday.
That’s why we do this; if you aren’t, you need to find another profession. I’m all in from the moment a match is announced until that final bell rings and a hand is raised in victory. I may not have won every match, but this is one that I am not going to lose. Signing on with CCPE really does mean that you are considered one of the best in this business. That shows how much I have improved because I wasn’t invited to be a part of the legacy they built last year. Now that they have proven that they are indeed the best in the world, If you are invited to be represented by them, that means you are the best in the world.
That makes this Merciless Championship match a must-win. On paper, I look good, so I have to back that up in the ring when I face Donovan and JMont. One thing I will use to my advantage is that they expect me to be weak. Their egos won’t allow them to think otherwise, and it will be too late by the time they see this aggressive version of Toddy. You saw it during the PHW Showcase on Valentine’s Day, and I will do it again tomorrow night. It took me to stop seeing myself as an underdog and to see myself as the competitor that deserves to share that ring with any person that I am booked to face. So I am not intimidated by their legacies because I have one of my own, and I acknowledge that.
There is something about feeling all that love surround you when you are out there performing that propels you. I am the fan favorite of this match, and the fans will show that tomorrow night. Without the fans, there would be no us, so I owe it to them to make their dreams come true when I am handed the championship belt tomorrow night. They manifest their dreams when they spend their hard-earned money to come to see us. I want to make their dreams come true, so there is nothing I won’t do tomorrow night. Shane likes to go for cheap wins like count outs, faking a DQ situation, or quick roll-ups, but I have an answer for that. I’m fast and will play the game smartly. He can try that stuff on JMont, who has a powerhouse game that many do not possess, but I will be there to break up every pin and every submission attempt, and when they are both spent, that’s when I will ruthlessly finish someone off and take the match for myself.
You have to be smart in a match like this, or you are doomed to fail. I will not be making any mistakes I made in the past. I can’t because you can make mistakes in a tag team match because your partner will save you, but there is no partner for me in this match. If there is any alliance of sorts, it will be myself and JMont, but that will break down just as quickly as it started because we both want the honor of being called champion. JMont plays a mental game, but I’ve been around him long enough to know how to keep him out of my head. He will hesitate because he doesn’t want to do anything to affect our friendship; he’s done it in the past. I won’t hesitate when an opportunity presents itself with either of them.”
The car pulls into the driveway of The Ramsey’s home in Manhattan, NY. Toddy looks at the camera.
Todrick Tabor-Ramsey: “Well, now you have heard about part of what drives me to do my best in that ring, and now you are about to meet the other half that drives me to get that bag and be called a champion, honey. I know I will always be a champion in their hearts, but I need to get that check as a champion in a wrestling company. Besides, this isn’t the Stepford Wives era, I earn my keep, and my husband earns his. Let’s go inside and see what fresh hell awaits.”
They enter the house, and Todrick hears the sound of a baby’s laugh coming from the nursery. She opens the door just in time to see Dominic attempt to pee in his father’s face. Austin moved in a nick of time, and Dominic giggled away on the table. He was indeed his father’s son. Austin cleans him up and finishes changing his diaper. Austin wrapped Dominic in his blanket and put him in his crib. Then he checked Diana’s diaper, and she seemed to be fine. So, he wrapped her up, turned, and noticed Toddy in the doorway. Toddy stood at the door and smiled. Austin walks over and kisses her before turning to put Diana down. He turns on the baby monitor and the music to put them to sleep, and they ease out of the nursery and shut the door. Austin puts his arm around her and guides her toward the master bedroom.
Todrick Tabor-Ramsey: “I don’t know where you think we are going and what you think is about to happen, but I am going downstairs to make myself something to eat. I’m hungry.
Austin Ramsey: “Why don’t you just go with the flow? You might be pleasantly surprised.”
Todrick Tabor-Ramsey: “Boy, you haven’t seen me all day; we both know there is only one thing on your mind.”
Austin opens the door, and Todrick sees flowers beside her side of the bed and a meal on a silver dining tray waiting for her. They enter the room, and Austin leads her to her side of the bed and takes off her shoes and socks. He motions for her to start eating, and he rubs her feet.
Austin Ramsey: “No champagne because you must be at your absolute best tomorrow night when you become the Merciless Champion. But I want to pamper you, so you are at the top of your game tomorrow. Tonight, I will take care of the twins; you rest and relax. If you need anything, I got you.”
One of the babies starts to cry, and Austin gets up to fix the situation. Toddy watches him leave, and love is written all over her face.
Todrick Tabor-Ramsey: “That man, oh, how I love that man. You see how well he treats me. I know that is a side of Austin that you rarely get to see, but when people ask me why I love him so with all of his flaws. This is why. He always puts me; first, he has a match tomorrow night that could very well put him in championship contendership, but he is focused on ensuring I am ready for my match. You can’t ask for a better partner. He is the reason that I know I will succeed in my match tomorrow.
He completes me and encourages me. He is why I can tap into this new side of myself and not lose who I am. When he has his episodes, I know how to bring him back, and now he returns that favor when I have to tap into that ruthless side of myself that has now started to manifest in my matches. We have one of the greatest loves in this business's history, making me unstoppable. When I am happy, he is happy, and winning that title tomorrow night will make him so happy. I never want to disappoint the man who tries to give me the world. Winning tomorrow night will be the equivalent of giving him the world. Now you understand why I am in a must-win situation. Failure is not an option, so you are looking at your next champion in The Entity. I WILL be crowned the Merciless Champion, and nothing will change that. Thank you for sharing this journey with me. I will see you all tomorrow night.”
The scene fades with a very confident Todrick Tabor-Ramsey smiling at the camera.
